NICHOLAS BILOF

As a graduate of GGU’s Summer Honors Trial and Evidence Program, Nicholas spent his first law-school summer studying the Rules of Evidence, then applying them in intensive trial-skills simulations. By Fall semester, Nicolas had prepared and executed of two full mock trials. This momentum continued the following semesters, as Nicholas competed in an intra-school appellate moot court competition, and represented GGU as a member of its National Trial Team, competing against law schools from across the U.S. at competitions in Chicago, Florida, and Washington D.C. His internships at the Office of the Federal Defender in Sacramento and the Alameda County Public Defender in Fremont gave Nicholas opportunities to apply and strengthen his advocacy skills by working alongside experienced defense attorneys to represent clients facing misdemeanor and felony charges. At GGU’s Environmental Law and Justice Clinic, Nicholas had a chance to work on the civil side, as he continued to develop his advocacy skills. Finally, as an extern for the chambers of U.S. District Court Judge Jon S. Tigar, Nicholas had a glance behind the curtain into the judicial decision-making process. Nicholas’ aim is to work as a public defender, to fight against the machinations of mass incarceration and protect the rights of America’s indigent class.
